The cool thing about your DIY speakers is that they’ll use an exciter rather than a normal cone speaker. The cone is replaced by a rigid connection to a surface that vibrates and creates sound, just like in a loudspeaker. Exciters are composed of a motor assembly, voice coil, suspension system, electrical connection terminals and a coupling plate that joins the coil to the mounting surface. The exciter uses its own movement to apply force from the voice coil to the mounting surface, which is flexible enough to vibrate and produce uniquely created sounds in your school, home or makerspace!
