In this webinar, we welcomed John and Sierra Olhoft from the LulzBot team for a very informative session. The line of LulzBot 3D printers have quickly become one of the most trusted and utilized brands in STEM experiences related to 3D printing and they can really support your MakerEd initiatives as well. Connecting with us from their headquarters in North Dakota, John and Sierra walked these attendees through the most important specifications of the LulzBot printers, including key information for the LulzBot TAZ Workhorse 3D printer that teachers should know before starting. If you have been exploring avenues for adding these types of experiences to your offerings, LulzBot’s solutions could be a great starting point!

The LulzBot 3D printers are among the most affordable 3D printers for education without sacrificing the necessary power and precision. The LulzBot team personally tests every 3D printer before they ship them, so they are always ready out of the box. As we'll certainly attest, they pride themselves on shipping orders incredibly fast—even through resellers. This is especially valuable in today’s landscape as educators might be trying to create high-upside STEM lessons. On the flip side, 3D printing became more critical during the pandemic and found its way into the spotlight. To learn more about how to use these LulzBot 3D printers in education, watch the recording below!

In addition to the traditional ways in which the LulzBot machines offer an exciting educational experience, students can use them effectively in different environments. The online library of how-to videos also helps ensure educators and students use all the printers correctly and efficiently. There are also tons of intriguing project ideas on their website as well. One project, which we were extremely excited to participate in, was the manufacturing of face shields for healthcare workers. Students and teachers from the Harmony Public School System in Texas—one of our greatest partnerships—used LulzBot 3D printers to manufacture face shields for local healthcare workers amid the shortage of safety equipment at the start of the pandemic—a project that truly embodied the spirit of the Maker Movement.

When talking about LulzBot’s printers, the main themes are repeatability, reliability, and performance. Their printers have some incredible longevity as well, which has helped them make their presence felt all around the world. Please check out the video from the webinar to find some new inspiration for using 3D printing in education. There might even be a brief mention of a new type of filament that’s being produced by the LulzBot team! We thank John and Sierra for their time in sharing these insights and thank everybody who attended. Enjoy the recording and don’t forget to follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
