For this last educator, however, we sent a little something before the start of the new year. Leigh Kuhn is a school librarian at Bondurant Middle School in Frankfort, Ky. and she caught our eye with her ‘STEM to STREAM’ initiative, so we made sure to get her something she can use in the new year!
We are unable to award something to everybody who applies for our EdTech grant, so, this Holiday season, we selected a few of the applicants who weren’t chosen and sent them what they asked for. Alyssa Newton was one of the educators we sent something to and her students really seemed to love what they received.
We told you about the first beneficiary of some Holiday cheer we helped spread at the tail end of 2018 and now we’re going to talk about another one! At the end of December, we sent Holiday gifts to five educators who had previously applied for our EdTech grant but were not selected due to the number of applications and creative project ideas we received.
During 2018, we were thrilled to launch our $500 monthly EdTech grant program and received a number of exceptional applications throughout the year. Unfortunately, we were only able to select one recipient each month, but, with the Holiday season underway, we decided to send a few gifts to educators who applied and were not selected.
It’s that time of the month again—time to reveal the recipient of our $500 EdTech grant! To close out the first calendar year of our grant program, which has been tremendously successful in our eyes, we’ve decided to give December’s award to Mary Ledford, a librarian from Harvest Elementary School in Saline, Michigan.
As we close the book on 2018 and look forward to 2019, we’re extremely thankful for the community of educators we continue to build. Whether it’s by appearing at educational conferences or events or through our social media initiatives, we’re proud of the community of educators you’ve helped us build!
After careful consideration, we believed the most deserving applicant from this past month is Victoria Blackmer from the Robert R. Jones Public Library in Coal Valley, Ill. Victoria is a librarian at this library in Coal Valley, which is almost on the border of Iowa, and she has also begun to work closely with the nearby Bicentennial Elementary School.
We’re excited to announce that our latest EdTech grant recipient is Cynthia Rumery, an elementary, middle, and high school teacher at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, CT. Cynthia is extremely dedicated to providing her students with innovative and visual opportunities to help them develop the skills of tomorrow!
We have another EdTech grant awardee! We’re pleased to announce the recipient of September’s $500 EdTech grant is Scott Donnelly from Carnegie Elementary School in Carnegie, PA! Scott is committed to creating a true 21st century classroom for his students and will soon be able to add some Ozobot kits into the mix thanks to his award!
Congratulations to Amanda Callahan-Mims from Spring Hill Elementary School in Knoxville, TN! Amanda and her students are in the process of transforming their school’s Technology Lab into a fully integrated STEM Lab and she’s using her background as an archaeologist to inspire her students to use technology in new ways!
