In our latest webinar, we were joined by Katie Henry, micro:bit's Head of Partner Engagement, and Diane Horvath, a technology specialist at a local school. The pair discussed many of the educational possibilities when it comes to using the micro:bit in the classroom and attendees from around the world joined in and contributed to the great discussion throughout the broadcast. In addition, we hope everybody learned a lot (we sure did!) and left with some new inspiration for teaching coding with the micro:bit in whatever instructional format you're now utilizing. The slide deck from the presentation can be found below!

Much of the conversation focused on projects students can do with the micro:bit V2. Katie and Diane also talked about the key differences between the two pieces of technology, including the improvements made to the V2. These include its built-in speaker, built-in microphone, and touch-sensitive logo. With these new elements, students have more opportunities to create code that involves these exciting new features. Plus, as you might know, the primary way to teach coding with the micro:bit is with the MakeCode platform. Katie and Diane also talked about how to navigate that system and touched on all of the different types of projects students could design. To watch the recording in its entirety, click below!

In addition to MakeCode, there are also some very valuable resources on the micro:bit website. Katie and Diane talked about the value of the Intro to MakeCode courses and the micro:bit Champions initiative, specifically. Also, teachers and students can easily find micro:bit projects in the Make it: code it section of the site. This is particularly valuable since they can sort the projects by programming language, academic subject, and even device feature. Their project library is certainly unique and definitely helpful to have. Most importantly, many of the projects are interchangeable when it comes to the original micro:bit or the V2. We would like to thank Katie and Diane once again for putting on such a great webinar! We'd also like to thank all the educators who attended and asked such relevant questions. We'll soon be selecting three attendees to receive a micro:bit V2 Go Kit and notifying them soon! To place an order or request a quote for the micro:bit V2, visit our store. We're stocking and restocking as quickly as possible to help meet demand for this very popular and useful STEAM tool!
