Boston’s world-famous Museum of Science is in the process of redesigning its famed Blue Wing and hosted a dinner Monday night to announce new plans for how they will enhance STEM learning for a broader audience. Among the highlights of the Putting Your Tech Foot Forward event, were distinguished speakers and hands-on stations.
Every week of the past month, we’ve been appearing at events, presenting at others, and I think we even attended one or two as guests. With part of our founding team hailing from Russia, we jumped at the opportunity to present at the two-day conference and introduce some new technologies to our friends across the ocean. After that, some of us made the somewhat shorter trip to the Bronx, NY to host ‘The State of EdTech in 2017’ in collaboration with Manhattan College.
The one thing that did stick out about this year’s World Maker Faire—aside from the incredible displays of inventive genius—was the unseasonably hot weather. Since many of the coolest exhibits were displayed outside, it was as much of a race to find the coolest new MakerEd tools for schools as it was to find some shade every once in a while to keep cool.
The MC team is opening its campus to host some up-and-coming teaching products, including virtual reality, 3D printing, and more as some of their faculty members explore their potential for enhancing education. The Eduporium team recently cemented this beneficial partnership with the Montgomery County Intermediate Unit. Out of Norristown, Pa., the MCIU is one of 29 intermediate units in their state that provides support to all of the local schools and districts. They create dynamic programs and services for teachers and students, including workshops, academies, and more.
